A colleague fell in love with the saber.
He asked for a few changes. Blade with greater curvature and more Polish shape of the handle.
Now I rebuker some pictures of the work.

Karabela type of classic form, probably Ottoman Court Workshop. The dark horn grips inlaid with engraved

and profiled geometrical silver plaques, the guard of silver, chiseled, engraved, and struck with the

tugra of Sultan Ahmed III (r. 1703-1730 c.e.) The long, lightly-curved and fullered blade with distinct

yelman or back edge.Beginning of the 18th century.

Tomek, can you discuss how you make such a graceful curve into the blade ?

Once again, I can't wait to see the finished product ...

Tomek, a question for you on the strips of metal on the wooden grip:

How are they fastened? Are there little rivets or do you use a glue?

Hi
Thank you for the good words.
Matthew, the pretty curve of the blade just hammer and fire Wink thank you like it.
Brian, the original saber has little rivets, but a colleague wants a smooth handle.
He will not destroy the leather glove. It is his wish.

Beautifully accomplished, TK, every aspect !

I really like the personality of the curved blade, and that it widens ever so slightly as you
get to the chopping business-end. I wonder if other makers / smiths would include that
small detail at the beginning of the yelmen ( does it have a particular name ? ) ... which
seems a fairly consistent characteristic of these sabers ...

What a treasure. Just fantastic. B-)

Very incredible Tomek, I think it's a very nice piece. The blade is a very great shape.

The Polish word for Yelmen is Pioro, which I think of like "quill" or "feather". If you mean the slight notch at the transition of the pioro and the rest of the blade towards hilt, I don't know the name.

Few names in Polish construction saber.
These names will look at Google pages Polish.
The best look; copy - paste
wąsy jelca
rękojeść szabli
jelec szabli
głownia szabli
młotek szabli
pióro szabli
And other names to look for.
I hope that will help.
szabla husarska XVI
karabela polska XVII

Unfortunately, Google shows a lot of items of very poor quality steel.

Hello gentlemen,

Polish sabres are composed of:
Rękojeść (hilt)
- głowica or kapturek (pommel)
- fartuch or warkocz kapturka (backstrap)
- trzon (grip)
- jelec (cross-guard or quillon)
- kabłąk (knuckle-bow)
- wąsy (langets)
- paluch (thumb-ring)
- obłęk (side-ring)
Głownia (blade)
- ostrze (edge)
- tylec (spine)
- płaz (flat)
- strudzina or bruzda (fuller or ridge)
- młotek (martle)
- pióro (false edge or yelmen)

Blade can be divided into three parts:
- zastawa (forte)
- moc (literally it means power or force in Polish)
- sztych (foible)
