Albion/Angus Trim Type XII Sword
Original: Circa 12th century
This is an older sword with a
Type XII blade by Angus Trim married to an Albion Armorers hilt. The fittings are hand-forged and the grip is spiral-wrapped with black leather. The cross is an Oakeshott Style 7 variant. The pommel is a Type K. This single-hander has a good amount of reach without becoming awkward, and feels very "handy". There is a reasonable amount of blade presence, making this feel very natural in the cut.
This sword was originally made blunt and was later sharpened. Because of this, its cutting ability is not up to par with many other swords of its type. Despite this, it still cuts quite well, and would likely fare very well against a mail-armoured opponent.
This sword could fit into a fairly broad time period, though the style of integral belt on the scabbard places it in the 12th century. The scabbard is an older Eric McHugh piece. While Eric's work has only improved since then, this is still an incredibly nice leather-over-wood core scabbard. The belt is made of very thin leather, which is more accurate than the heavier leathers often used in modern reproductions.
