This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available

I have for sale a hand made Transition Period armour (circa 1340). The armour would fit someone in the 5' 9" to 6' range, weight between 190 lbs to 205 lbs, 38" to 40" chest, 22" to 24" sleeve length. Overall weight when worn is 50 lbs.

Price - $800 CDN plus FedEx shipping

Photos are below - more detailed photos available.

Being sold as a complete armour:

Gambeson - quilted and padded with leather collar reinforcement and pewter eyelets, flat brass buttons on cuffs, trimmed in burgundy edging, split front and back to allow riding on horse, leather arming points on sleeves and lace arming points on shoulders. Typical gambeson of the period.

Thigh Padding - quilted but not heavily padded, ties below the knees and arming points part way down. Typical of the period as additional thigh protection was worn with lower leg armour (often mail with greaves).

Partial Coat of Mail - rings are of mild steel butt ended; double layer fabric body with leather edge reinforcement, 3/4 sleeves with brass ring trim, split knee length skirt and mail collar. Typical of transition period armour where the amount of mail was being reduced to exposed areas only.

Coat of Plates - copied from the Wisby Coat of Plates, leather lined with black velvet exterior, brass rivets, 16 gauge mild steel plates, three straps/brass buckles down right hand side.

Splint Forearm Armour - Copied from Wisby armour, blue leather with 16 gauge mild steel splints, brass rivets with brass eyelets for arming laces. Typical of the period, especially within German principalities.

Splint Thigh Armour - Copied from Wisby armour, leather lined with blue plush velvet exterior, polished rivets, 16 gauge mild steel splints, attached single piece poleynes with strap/brass buckle.

Mail Stockings - rings are of mild steel butt ended, laced up the front, tied off below the knee, integral foot with heavy leather sole, fine leather slip on boots. Typical of the period.

Greaves - 16 gauge mild steel with centre ridge, three straps/brass buckles; bit beaten up.

Leotards - worn under all the leg padding and armour.

Arming Cap - quilted but not heavily padded.

Italian Style Transition Period Steel Helm - Tempered and polished steel helmet with brass aventail studs, aventail rings are of mild steel butt ended, braided retaining cord with red leather seam cover. No helmet lining.

All the above was hand crafted and assembled over a three period. Some pieces are not suitable for competition but could easily be made competition certified. Great for re-enactments.

To all forum members, please make me an offer on the armour.

I will be unable to wear or use this armour again and would like to part with it. No reasonable offer refused.
