This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available
I have two tanto blades for sale. Both blades come from back when I was still working out of Rick Barrett’s shop. Tangs do not have file work and are unsigned. The longer tanto is 1075 and has a 12” blade. This was one of my first polishing attempts beyond just foundation work, so it needs and deserves more work. Never even attempted to polish on the mune, so that is just ruff from post-heat treating. The shorter tanto has a beefy 10 ˝” blade and is folded. This blade does NOT have a hamon and is out of a steel more like Rick’s contemporary work. I considered doing a deeper type of etch on the blade so it would be highly visible for photographs, but wanted to leave it polished as is so one could go with either a more traditional feel or contemporary.
Originally I planned to mount both of these and keep one for myself. However, I have a few other Japanese style pieces that I plan to mount and keep instead and that is more than enough of this style work to keep me busy for some time. So rather than these just sitting around, I might as well sell them. I would like $600 each or $1000 for both. I will pay shipping in the U.S. and we can work something out for shipping elsewhere. Trade offers will be considered.

After re-reading my initial post I realized that I wasn't totally clear about these. These are both blades made by Rick. I did apply the clay to the 1075 blade, that and polishing was my only real contribution though.
