This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available
I am describing this to the best of my ability and research.
Asking 145 and shipping.
For sale here is a very nice and well preserved example of the US Navy trainer cutlass of the model 1860. This sword was used by U.S. navy sailors to practice sword drill, and features a blunt and rounded 25" long blade, and a well shaped grip. The guard is made of iron bars, and features a steel pommel cap, all with the original black paint albeit with some small blooms of corrosion. The shape clearly mimics the counterguard and bowl of the famous model 1860 naval cutlass. The balance, weight, and form are all similar if not identical to the civil war era 1860 model cutlass. Attached is a photo from the Spanish American war which shows sailors in training (and perhaps light sparring as well) with this model of cutlass. The hilt has a small click in it when pushed to move.
