Up for sale is a private purchase French 1882 model sword for infantry officers.
Double ring scabbard and iron hilt indicates this is likely to be made for an officer of the Armee d’Afrique (Colonial army in North Africa).
Sword is firm and nothing loose, overall very good condition, the blade is a beefier, non-regulation marked Klingenthal on one side and Coulaux et Cie on the other + private poincons. A small part of the horn grip is chipped.
The Colonial army swords are some of the most attractive and sought after models and this one is no exception!
