29. (a.) English rapier, the blade dated 1634. The hilt is steel, with the pommel and quillon terminals each in the form of a woman's head. The cup guard is chiselled with foliage patterns and cherubs. The blade, which is not that originally fitted to the hilt, is inscribed
JOHAN KINNDT HOUNSLOE 1634. (cf, Pl. 28c). Length - 105.4 cms. Inventory no. IX-982.

This has turned out out be one of the best topics around but I am biased to English swords. I loved the article in the featurse section too. Lots of good examples there as well. Thanks Thomas
