For Sale, Oscar Kolombatovich Brass Hilted Pappenheimer Rapier
This is a rare opportunity to own one of the last Kolombatovich Rapiers he made before his death. I was told that this was the last sword he made before he died, but unfortunately since he did not number his pieces there is no way to confirm that. I can confirm that it is one of his final pieces, and one of only three he made of this design. He made all three for the 1994 feature film, "Ring of Steel" starring Robert Chapin, Carol Alt and Joe Don Baker. This was used by Robert Chapin's character, and was used as the "Hero" Sword, indicating that is was the one used for all of the close-up shots. As the Hero Sword, it was not used for choreographed combat, leaving the blade and hilt free of the nicks and scratches of fighting. Robert Chapin kept one of the two swords used for choreographed fights, and I am not sure what became of the third piece. Two of the attached Photos are image captures from the film of Robert Chapin holding the rapier. I acquired this piece from an associate in the film industry who does camera work and fight work. Additional photos available on request. Please contact me with any questions. I have listed this description as acurately as possible with the information I was given, if anything is incorrect, please inform me, and I will make appropriate changes.
