I really hate to do this, but I need to sell this piece.
I want to keep it, but I need the the cash, so here goes:

English Longsword, by Arms & Armor:

The distinctive hilt of this sword consists of a flattened pear shaped pommel and gently arched guard all in steel. The grip is of hock bottle shape. The grip core is wood, bound with cord to create the pattern and covered in leather.

These unique swords of the late 15th century can be seen sculpted on many German effigies. This particular sword is based on an example in the Zürich Landesmuseum. As the original is severely corroded we have chosen the hilt detail inspired by a Flemish painting that is on loan to National Gallery of Scotland from Her Majesty the Queen, to complete the piece.

Original: c. 1450, Zürich Landesmus, Details the 'Trinity' altarpiece, Flemish, c1475, by Hugo van der Goes, now in the Royal Collection, on loan to the National Gallery of Scotland. The sword is carried by an armoured saint, possible St George, depicted in Italo-German (possibly Innsbruck).

Blade Length: 33.25" x 1.75", Overall Length: 43"
Weight: 2.65 lbs., Balance Point: 5.625" from Guard

This piece costs $648 (including shipping) direct from Arms & Armor.

This piece is sold in as-new condition. No scabbard. Sharp, like all standard A&A offerings.

Asking price: $520 or best offer.
Includes shipping to continental US.
I prefer PayPal.

I have one of these and since I see there is no review of one here, I wanted to say a couple of words.
This is one of the few "bastard swords" I have handled that i would really care to use one handed - the handle is just long enough to give good grip with either one or both hands and the weight and balance leave it easily controllable with one hand and light as a feather with two. This one gets my vote for "best all a round" sword that I have owned or even handled. Someone is going to get a good deal...
Sorry - not sure if I'm breaking the "no discussion" rule of the marketplace forum or not.
