If his aketon was any tighter or form fit his brains would be squeezed out his head like tooth paste. I can promise that thing can get no tighter without serious modification to Felix.

I also have buttons on my aketon and have not had any problem either.

Hmm, I can´t see how the button dicussion started here today, was there a question in this topic somewhere?

For the fitting of the Aketon. Maybe you could get it more V-shaped, but when I look in the mirror my waist is not that tight compared to the chest and hip circumference, and I am more regular weighted. So I have a hard time thinking about this narrow waist in the persons depicted in art. But those in your pictures a wearing Jupons, so maybe they have globose breast plates underneath. The aketon on the other hand is designed also to go with my mid 14 th cent militia kit. I will get fantastic Visby guantlets next year to go with the kit. When you think of pivtures of Italian foot in training from the painting of Avio Castle in Trentino, you will see more regular shaped persons with straight lines, compared to the strong waisted look. Maybe you could get something waisted to work with the padding and of course even in my Aketon you could take out a few cm in the waist, but you still won´t get the deep V-shape.

You are never finished until you are finished. I sold my first arm harness for this better fitted one. A pair of hourglass gauntlets is also to come. Pictures by the maker Christian Wiedner.

(I just realized I was replying to something posted in 2009... talk about quick reaction.)

To the tailoring issue: my waist circumference is 95cm in itself, my prototype doublet got that down to 80cm, and the final got it down to 72cm. It's far more comfortable than it seems and supports my back quite well, making lifting heavy objects easier and safer. I also fought in it for hours stopping only for water, and have worn it for 3 days continuously except while sleeping. A few tests had shown that I could get down to even 60cm circumference, but then it gets uncomfortable while fighting - but it's more than surviveable if you're not exerting force, like normal civilian wear.
Compare THIS with THIS. The latter one is the final version, and it makes tailoring a close-fitting aketon possible. I'm 100kg by the way at 184cm, and pretty far from being in top condition.

Arms are lovely. I love the detail like the file work at the hinges. The design of it looks great. The vambraces especially are nice. Once you get them make sure you take some more updated pictures of your complete harness as I am sure we all would love to see it with the rest of your excellent harness.
