This is the 2-volume catalogue by James Mann of London's Wallace Collection, published in 1962. These are great reference works with stats, descriptions, and maker's marks for every piece listed (the entirety of the European arms and armor collection as of 1962). Many items are shown in B&W pictures in the back.
Guy Laking catalogued the collection in the early 1900s. SJ Camp did 2 volumes in the 1920s. I own or have owned all these and Sir James Mann's 1962 catalogues are the most comprehensive and also show the numbering system still in use today. When I visited the Wallace Collection several years ago, copies of these catalogues were placed around the collection for visitors to use for reference.
Volume 1 is armour, Volume 2 is Arms. Between them, there are over 1,000 pages of descriptions plus 300 plates (photographs). This set is bound is paperback, as issued.
They weren't bound in the highest-quality materials from the start, but the condition is really pretty good for books their age. Both are totally sound with no major structural or visual defects, though they have shelfwear and minor bumps and bruises from the 4 decades they've seen. Both have a previous owner's bookplate inside the front cover. Both books are the same colour; my scanner just adjusted something darker on Volume 2.
These books are often listed for sale at $100+, with many copies for more than $125. Asking $95 + s/h. Money order accepted; PayPal preferred (please add 3% of total for PayPal transactions).
