I'm putting up for sale my 12th century silver denier coin of Conrad III. This is an actual 12th century silver coin, not a replica. The condition is pretty good for something approaching 900 years old. Happy See below. This is a coin minted during the reign of a crusader king.

The coin comes in a velvet (or velvet-like) display/gift box. The coin itself will be surrounded by a foam ring in a lucite capsule. It was spent the last 10 years in the capsule; I just took it out to get a clearer picture of it.

Asking $150 + s/h. Money order accepted, PayPal preferred (please add 3% for PayPal transactions).

I neglected to mention that the coin comes with a certificate of authenticity from the company I bought it from.

Price drop to $125 + s/h. Payment terms unchanged.

I'll also entertain any reasonable offer for this rare 12th century coin.

I am seriously thinking about this, although a coin from the era of Frederick I Barbarossa would be my ideal pick. (I have actually looked previously for purposes explained below. Your price is very reasonable considering the apparently excellent condition.)

Can you give some dimensions (mm O.D. and approximate thickness) for those of us who might be looking to purchase the coin for insetting it into the pommel recess of a very special sword? I could envision it going nicely with something like the Albion Vigil. In my case, I would end up buying a new sword to go with the coin.... Then hiring Brian K for a worthy scabbard. Ouch!

Absence of evidence is not necessarily evidence of absence!

At its widest, it's .64 inches wide. As it's hand-struck, it's not perfectly round. Happy It's about .025 inches thick.

By contrast, a silver penny of England's Edward I (which I might be selling as well) is .74 inches wide and also about .025 inches thick.

This coin in still available. Here are some fresh pictures of this 12th century Crusader's coin.

The obverse has a picture of a stylized castle with the Latin version of the city name Genoa (where it was struck). The reverse has a cross and the name of this king Conrad III (Conradi Rex).
