This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available
Up for sale is a Keicho Shinto katana (imported by Darryl Guertin) made in 1070 steel forged in a "U no Kubi Zukuri" style. This blade is forged in U no Kubi Zukuri (cormorant’s neck), which is like Shinogi zukuri in the belly of the blade (close to the nakago), and Shobu Zukuri in the upper part.
This is a cutting sword and should do well in kata.
Specifications:
Blade length (from Tsuba): 29" nagasa
Tsuka Length: 11 inches
Sori: .75 inch torii sori
Menuki, Fuchi and Kashira: Dragonfly themed
Weight: 2 lbs 9.1 oz
Steel: 1070
Koshi-hi
U no Kubi zukuri
Balance- About 4.75” from tsuba
Motohaba - 1.2 inches
Sakihaba - 1.1 inches
I have not used this katana for any cutting. The blade has been polished and re-etched by me. It has been on display in my house.
I also refinished the saya; stripped it down to bare wood, applied a zillion coats of laquer and finally a couple of clearcoats and a final polish.
I will also include this custom-made sword bag (53 inches long, by 6 inches wide and has 16 inch ties).
Price is $575.00. I will estimate shipping, handling and insurance to you.
If you’re interested, let me know.
Thanks,
Jeff
