Man, what's up with the 15:th century mark? Looks more like a running whale then a running wolf. WTF?!

I would like to contribute to this topic, this is Passau wolf from the sword in Belgrade museum. Its dating is disputable, but most agree that it is from the 15th century. Could this mark proove or disproove its dating?
