For those of you who frequent other forums, I'm known as 'Kmark' (SFI).

For sale... a Walter Sorrells 1086M Wakizashi blade, never cut with (obviously, it's just a bare blade). It comes polished and with a custom-made copper habaki.

20.25" nagasa (length from hamachi to tip)
Good amount of niku (blade meat)
3/8" sori (curvature)
1 3/16" motohaba (width at hamachi)
25/32" sakihaba (width at yokote)
1/4" motokasane (thickness at hamachi)
3/16" sakikasane (thickness at yokote)
5" nakago with 1 mekugi hole

It's a wakizashi and, as you might expect, it is light and very fast, but it still has a good healthy blade shape with lots of niku.

Pictures follow... I managed to take some decent shots. Here's what Walter himself had to say about it. He's talking about the daisho, but it's the wakizashi that I'm selling:

This powerful daisho consists of a 28.5" katana and a 20.25" wakizashi of 1086M. This is a beautifully matched pair with a distinctive toran-ba (wave pattern) hamon. This would be an excellent pair for mounting as an art piece...or for nitoken practice, tameshigiri, kata, etc. Both blades are very robust in overall geometry, with moderate niku, and are excellent cutters. Copper habaki included with each blade.

I'm selling it for $1200 (USD) firm, shipping included within Canada and US.

This wak is already polished. You can expect to get a bare blade in binsui for about $1000 alone, never mind about the polishing job which can cost $500 - $800 from a modern polisher. The habaki alone is about $200 because it is entirely hand-made. The waiting list for one of Walter's blades is also pretty long, at least several months if Walter's waiting list was even open.

If you email me at kkmark@gmail.com, I have all those pictures in high-res. For payment methods, I will take Paypal if you add on another $20 to cover part of the fees (3% of $1200 is actually $36).

Otherwise, I will take money orders or personal cheques. Once payment is cleared, the blade ships immediately.
