One-of-a-kind Custom Sword: Phoenix Metal Creations Back-bladed Side Sword

I promised myself I'd never sell any of my pieces from Phoenix Metal Creations, but it's time to raise some cash for things unrelated to this hobby and so this piece is being sacrificed to pay for those things life brings us.

Venice — Circa 1490

This hilt is inspired by an original located in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Acc. No. 14.25.1169. The original is covered in engraved silver, parcel gilt. This replica is polished steel.




This is a quarter hilt Venetian sword. Two distinct aspects to this design are the steel grip and a wide back-blade with double fullers down the spine. The single-edged blade, made by Del Tin Armi Antiche of Italy, is heavy and broad enough to justify classifying it as a side sword.

This replica uses a standard Del Tin backblade mounted to the custom hilt. As with all Del Tin blades, this one is blunted and so is heavier than its historical counterpart would be. I had always intended to have this sword sharpened, lightening it and making it more "lively" in the hand. As it is now, its dynamic properties are that of a blunt, or sparring, weapon.

Excellent condition. As-new. A custom piece from a maker who is no longer producing pieces.
