Mr McDonald
Thanks for those pictures. Things like this make me want to restart buying words. Is it my memory playing tricks, or is the blade on this one a little more obviously 'kinked' (for want of a better word) than the last similar one he did? The earlier seemed to be more of a continuous curve (probably expressing myself badly here). Anyway, as I said, thanks.

Once again it looks like Vince is well on his way towards masterfully recreating one of my favorite designs.

Looks to me like there might be a thrusting point on that one, accounting for the final "kink" in the blade.
Awesome piece!
I tried forging out a falcata/short kopis awhile back, but it came out looking more like a yataghan!!!
Vince is most definitely a master craftsman.

I didn't surrender, but they took my horse and made him surrender.

Another masterwork!!
This new falcata does seem to have more of a "kink", as you guys put it, than the other one currently posted on Vince's site:

However, I'm not sure that the new one has a more acute point. It's hard for me to tell, though, since I think the tape protecting the edge of the new one is distorting my perception a bit.

Yup, I think that upturned tip is just excess masking tape .... Mac

That may be my new definition of "sword".
Utterly amazing . . . . . .

God I love his work, I may just have to sell my house and get on his commission list.

Standard Vince Evans - another delight for the eyes, with points of visual interest in every part of the sword. Wow. And I am sure that it feels fabulous in hand, as well.

Stunning as always. Every time I see a thread started with Vince's name in the title I can't wait to check it out. Every piece he makes is something you can really pour over for a long time and drink in all the intricate details. The way he's incorporated his initial and fish symbol into the spine right in front of the grip is awesome. I really like the companion knife as well. I don't recall ever seeing original falcatas with companion knives. Does anyone know if this was common?
Constant and true.

I don't know about common, but at least there is this example. It's a different, and rather odd companion knife though.

Iberian swords seemingly carried a companion knife as well as some examples of the Iberian leaf bladed variety. Quite handy really.

A real beauty as always. I find Vince's work to be totally mesmerizing. I just got back from vacationing in Europe and couldn't check in when I wanted. But the one thing that I have to say about Vince's work besides it always being beautiful, it is utterly inspiring.
