This listing is marked SOLD and is no longer available
I am selling 10 of the custom carved lances I had made this year.
They are made in 3 pieces (each 36" in length), but have been securely glued at the joints. The are at touch over 8' long and are 2 1/2" wide at their widest point.
They are made of poplar and are balanced extremely well.
They will come with a copper ferrule to insert the balsa/pine tip.
I have "fortified" the final joint as we found this area to be slightly weak, especially if a lance was dropped or thrown to the ground.
I will include a rubber coronel (the ones that Jeff makes) with every lance sold.
I am asking $175 a piece (plus shipping). While I could send them out of the country, I would think that even shipping to Canada might be too pricey. Fortunately, they are of a length that can be shipped by UPS.
I will post pics as soon as I take them.
These are the type of lances that we use in the International Jousting Association, but would make a terrific addition to your office, den, or historical encampment.

Lloyd,
Will the lance come complete with a sample of the replacable tip so that more can be made? Also is there a solid model for running at the quintain?

Hi Bill,
All of them are spoken for as of now. However, I am more than willing to share the plans that I created for the woodturner who made them so that you can either make them yourself or have someone make them for you. Just let me know if you are interested.
I have used them against a quintain with a solid (i.e. non-frangible) tip and it worked just fine. I used a 1 1/4" solid pine dowel cut to 36" with a copper cap (or you can use a Historic Enterprises rubber coronel which gives a bit more "bite").
Cheers,
