Up for sale is a rare set of books about the armoury of Churburg Castle. This 2 volume set consists of: a reprint of James Mann’s 1929 catalogue (impossible to find) and Mario Scalini’s 1995 update/expansion of that. Together, it’s over 700 pages. Mann’s volume is in English and has lots of pictures. Scalini’s is a veritable Rosetta Stone, with all text in Italian, German, and English. The Scalini volume has better quality pictures. Between the two volumes, there are hundreds of pictures, mostly of armour, plus period art and some weapons. There were 2,000 sets printed. This is number 921.
The volumes are hardcover, with cloth boards and leather spines. The slipcase is also made of stout cloth covered boards, with a pictorial front and back cover. The slipcase includes a ribbon so you can easily extract the volumes. Books and case are in excellent condition with minimal wear.
This set is hard to find, with copies listing in the $500+ range. See this search, another search, and this one.
