Hello everyone,

I decided to sell a bigger part of my collection.

I will be very happy to provide you with many additional photos and description-details if you wish to. Just send me an email to: markusfischertelchar@gmail.com or send a DM.

All these pieces are shipping from Germany.

(All prices are OBO therefore the first one to offer the best price will get the item)

There are 5 individual, antique pieces for sale: a Khyber-Knife, an Indonesian sword, the chinese eating-set no1, the chinese eating-set no2, a pattern-welded Kris

1. Afghan Khyber-Knife

Date of manufacturing: Probably middle of the 19th century
Blade length: 26cm / 10,25 inches
Overall length: 37cm/ 14,6 inches
Blade thickness: 10,2mm tapering to 3mm at 1cm before the tip
Weight of knife: 214 gramms
Weight of knife + scabbard: 284 gramms

Price: 600$ OBO

Description:

This quite simply is one of the most beautiful Khyber-Knives I have seen.

It has a nicely ground blade with an approximately „T“ shaped cross-section.

Furthermore the handle is made from horn that is heavily decorated with patterns created by steel or silver pins that are inlayed into the horn.
Additonally it has bronze bolsters and a small piece of brass covering the spine at the handle area. Both the bolsters and the brass are beautifully engraved and decorated.

Furthermore the blade has a very interesting pattern etched into the blade...it is not damascus but rather a pattern created by applying resist to the blade and dunking it into acid which is etching the entire blade accept for the spots where the resist was applied previously.

At last the Khyber-Knife also has some additional engravings along the spine of the blade.

Moving to the scabbard, the knife has a simple yet skillfully made and functional scabbard.
It is carved from wood and covered in thick leather.
The scabbard also has some decorations on the presentation-side.

Condition:

The condition can be described as almost perfect.
The knife and its scabbard are fully intact and do not have any damage whatsoever.
Only the blade has some grey-ish patina in some areas which is to be expected with items of this age.

2. Indonesian short-sword

Date of manufacturing: probably late 19th century
Blade length: 60,5cm / 23,8 inches
Overall length: 83cm / 32,7 inches
Blade thickness: 10mm tapering to 2,5mm at 3cm before the tip
Weight of sword: 570 gramms
Weight of sword + scabbard: 796 gramms

Price: 300$ OBO

Description:

This is an eastern short-sword that is probably from Indonesia or Taiwan.

It is extremely light and well balanced, which is mostly due to the strong distal-taper of the blade.

Furthermore the blade-grind can be described as being a slight hollow-grind with a convexed scandi-edge.
In addition to that the blade has a narrow back-edge running along the spine.
This back-edge is not sharp up until ca. 15cm before the tip where the blade gets so thin that the back edge is as sharp as the true-edge.

Moving towards the handle, it is made from a hardwood with an unique grain-structure.
Additonally the handle has two brass fittings.

Condition:

The sword is in good condition. There is just very minimal oxidation on the blade and handle fittings.

On the other hand the scabbard does have some damages.
There are two spots where a piece of the wood has splintered off. This damage does however not hinder the functionality of the scabbard.

3. Antique Chinese-Eating-Set no.1

Date of manufacturing: early to late 19th century
Number of pieces: Four pieces: Two chopsticks, one eating-knife + the scabbard
Length of chopsticks: 21,5cm / 8,5 inches
Length of knife: 22,5cm / 8,9 inches
Weight of the three pieces without scabbard: 62 gramms
Weight overall: 102 gramms

Price: 150$ OBO

Description:

This is a tastefully done eating-set that was most likely made in China during the 19th century.

It features two bone or ivory chopsticks and a long eating knife which has a wooden handle with bronze fittings.

The crown-piece of this set is the sheath in my opinion. It is made from dark, red wood and has bronze-sheet fittings that have been chased and hammered to create the images of flowers.

Condition:

The entire set is in good condition.
There is no damage to any of the parts contained whatsoever.
Just the knife has a little bit of oxidation on its blade, but again this is to be expected with items that are nearly 200 years old.

4. Antique Chinese-Eating-Set no.2

Date of manufacturing: early to late 19th century
Number of pieces: Five pieces: Two chopsticks, one toothpick and an eating-knife + the scabbard
Length of chopsticks: 19,5cm / 7,7 inches
Length of toothpick: 12,5cm / 4,9 inches
Length of knife: 23cm / 9 inches
Weight of all four pieces without scabbard: 28 gramms
Weight overall: 48 gramms

Price: 120$ OBO

Description:

This is a well-made chinese eating-set that was made during the 19th century.

It features two bone or ivory chopsticks as well as a toothpick and an eating-knife.
The knifes handle is made from bamboo and a bone spacer at the bolster.
Furthermore the knifes handle is painted with lacquer.

In addition to that it also has a scabbard that containes all those items.

The scabbard is made from bamboo and is painted with the same interesting lacquer that the knifes handle is painted with.

This lacquer has a yellow colour with brown, splash-like looking dots. Personally it reminds me of the pattern found on a Giraffes skin.

Furthermore the scabbard has brass fittings. The craftsman most likely choose to make the fittings from brass as it goes well together with the yellow paint.

Condition:

The chopsticks, the toothpick and the eating-knife are all in excellent condition and seem like they never have been used.

Unfortunately though, there are a number of spots on the scabbard where the beautiful lacquer has started to peal off.
Otherwise the scabbard is in good condition and is 100% functional.

5. Antique Kris with pattern-welded blade

Date of manufacturing: probably late 19th century/early 20th century
Blade length: 20,5cm / 8 inches
Overall length: 26,5cm / 10,4 inches
Blade thickness: 5,9mm tapering to 2mm at 1cm before the tip
Weight of dagger: 86 gramms
Weight of dagger + scabbard: 142 gramms

Price: 110$ OBO

Description:

This is an antique Kris which was probably made in the late 19th century or in the early 20th century.

It has a blade made from pattern-welded steel (damascus-steel) with a laminated construction.

One can see that the light sides of the blade are made from low-carbon damascus-steel while the dark edge is made from some sort of high-carbon steel.

This combination results in a blade that has a strong body and a hard edge.

Furthermore the Kris has a handle made from nicely carved wood, which also has a flower-shaped piece of brass at the transition of the blade into the handle which acts as decoration as well as reinforcement for the tang at its weakest point.

In addition to that the Kris has a simple, yet well-made scabbard that has been carved and sanded from two different types of wood.
Even after probably more than 100 years the wood of the scabbard is still in very good shape.

Conditon:

The condition of the piece can be describes as almost perfect.

There is absolutely no damage to the kris or its scabbard in any way. They are both well-preserved, but of course still show the signs of age as can be seen by the slight oxidation on the blade.

And thats it!

Thank you very much for taking a look.

-EDIT-

I was told that the Indonesian sword actually is called a Burmese dha.

Furthermore I found out that the term Choora-Knife is apparently more fitting than Khyber knife for this type of dagger.
