I bought this Royal Artillery Officer's Sword from Easton Antique Arms a few years ago. I had planned to turn it into a cutter by sharpening it and maybe removing the corroded tip, but decided against it.

IIRC it was made by Pillin ("P" proof slug) around 1900. Further identifying marks appear to be an etched "W. W. WHITE" (?) and a stamped "100089" (?) on the spine in the forte. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The tip area is heavily corroded, the base of the blade and the hilt have a good amount of pitting. The rest of the blade has patina, the etching, outside of the pitted areas, is mostly intact. It is currently further conserved with a very thin coat of Ballistol.

Some of the Shagreen has worn off over the last 120 years or so, some of the small silver wires are gone, the large ones are intact. Blade is straight, assembly is solid, no rattling or movement.
