French sabre ''de fantaisie'' typical of colonial (Armee d'Afrique) officer sword patterns.
Since 1855 officer sword in colonial service were widely known for their non-regulation hilts and blades, this is a very rare example that was made by the obscure sword cutler M. Meyer St-Etienne.
The blade is stamped with poincons that closely look like controller 1st class J.A Bish (16/02/1844 to 31/01/1861) and controller 2nd class F.A. Bisch (16/02/1844 to 25/01/1861).
Great condition with patina on the iron hilt and scabbard but everything clean and firm. The double-fuller blade is clean and with no rust.
