For sale: I have a wootz steel tulwar or shamshir, in good condition for its considerable age. I have owned this one for 45 years. It has a typical tulwar handle with Bidaree work, about half of this onlay remains. Blade fits in the handle tightly. Made for a medium-small hand, my medium sized hand just about can hold it comfortably. The wootz steel blade is in good condition, almost entirely free of rust or corrosion. The wootz shows up plainly, without magnification, for about 3/4 of the blade's length. Near the handle, upon on the blade is a large, carved Mughal cartouche, an umbrella followed by an Arabic teardrop-shaped cartouche, with an animal (Tiger ?) beneath that. It has been polished somewhat flat, as I believe this has been polished during its working life, kind of like can be seen on many Nihonto. Nevertheless it is clear and distinguishable. The seller, told me this was the Cartouche of the Delhi Arsenal. Perhaps, I cannot say. The original scabbard comes with it, it is wood covered with black leather. It is in good minus condition, not broken at all, but the leather seem is splitting a bit near where the tip is (not showing blade). Considering what wootz tulwars usually go for, this one is reasonable at 950. USD shipped. CONUS. I have heard too many bad stories of overseas misadventures with customs. Sorry. Pls.send PM if interested. I will try to get a photo up, but this will be my first time trying to post a photo, I cannot be sure it will work.Might have more luck emailing a photo. Usual three day inspection priviledge for return. Paypal or M.O.
Thanks.

One time only price drop to 650. USD, shipped CONUS. No picture available, however, you have a three day, in-hand examination period and return for full money back-except for one way shipping, which is your responsibility. If it doesn't sell, in two weeks, I'll put it up on the popular on-line auction site through a third-party agency. If you are looking for a better than average, really old wootz tulwar with a nice blade, and a showy cartouche, this is it and it's a bargain.
