I thought I'd start a new thread for the heck of it, introducing the next 24 models of NextGen swords... Some were in the Name that Sword contest, but there are lots of new pieces to see:

We are also starting another Name That Sword Contest with some of the new models (we may add a few more as well before the contest is over)...
The concept drawings are, as before, only concept drawings -- the final sword (as you saw with the first rounds) may vary slightly, buit the spirit and authenticity will be the same. Individual pages on each sword, along with draft specs and prices will be up soon.

What's the difference between the Sherriff and the Soveriegn? The only thing I see is the blade is not as wide at the guard on the Sherriff. Everything else appears the same. I know its still in the planning stage, but what is the expected handling difference between them?

Howy,
Any chance one of the Talhoffer's will make its way into the Squire Line? We are setting up a new Schola St. George study group up here in Beaver Dam (to add to our King's Champions shows and to expand our historical sword/weapon fighting knowledge) and having a couple of Squire Line swords made in this style would be extremely helpful.
Just a thought.

I am not Howard but I can point out one "obvious" difference:
The Sovereign has a double fuller, and the Sheriff packs a single one. And the prices are different. As far as handling characteristics are concerned, I will let Peter or the Albion folks to address them.

They are to be based on the same blade blank. Peter said:

The other guys have pretty much answered the blade. So I will take a stab at the hilt. The pommel will not have the recess. The guard is going to be "flatter" then the Sovereign as well. The time saved in clean up with these changes along with the single fuller will bring the Sheriff’s price down compared to the Sovereign.
I do not know about handling quite yet but I think it is going to be pretty comparable to the Sovereign. Hope this helps!!

Thanks. Very informative. I assumed since they were new, that no information was out there. Therefore, I didn't use the search button.

Yep, it's a Type XIV. Here's more info on the type if you haven't seen it: http://www.myArmoury.com/feature_spotxiv.html.
If you're curious about the Sovereign at all, there's plenty of info around here. There's a review of the Sovereign by Bill Grandy on the Reviews page. I have pics in my album (accessible from the Album page) of my Sovereign. It's also in my collection (accessible from the Collections page). The collection page and review by Bill also have some basic info on the type.

It was called just a Type XIV before Michael's name (Sherriff) was chosen in the contest.

The Poitiers, Mercenary, and the long XVa's are all very sweet, especially the Talhoffer II.

The Reeve is very appealing to me, but that shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone who knows me
I also find the Agincourt and the Talhoffer III very nice as well.
The Doge will be a great one to see come to fruition, excellent aesthetic in that one.

More German goodness!
And right after I've spent amost $800 on grad school before the first class. First term books alone were almost $500. Only $5000 or so left for tution to come up with this year (in addition to what my employer pays).
ARGH!!!
Anyway that German Bastard I and II look great with all the scent stopper pommel goodness.
Same with the Talhoffer III.
It so sucks that I am not going to have toy money for a long time.
