A couple of months ago I posted some pictures of my new spatha by Vince Evens. Unfortunately they were wiped out, along with a fair bit of stuff by others. I have not had a chance to replace them as I was off to Sweden to meet Vince and the members of Wulfheodenas. So here they are.
I would like to say that Vince did an exceptional job on this sword and it was a pleasure and a privilege to order from him.
He is a real gentleman.

Of course it's amazing. Vince never ceases to amaze. He is always learning and including new techniques; Just when you thought he couldn't get any better, he does something better.

Good heavens. That's stunning work. It's clean and precise, yet organic and natural. Phenomenal.

Some of Vince's finest work. Congratulations.

Peter, Vince´s work is outstanding. I was very happy to see this sword in Uppsala when we met.
It is even better when you see it in front of you. Such a rich piece.
It is a joy that there are several sword smiths who reach for such levels of skill and artistry in their work. Truly an inspiration for us all.
It is also really great that there are patrons of this craft like you who are willing to sponsor good sword smiths in a way that lets them deliver at the best of their capability.
Peter: you did something very fine when you had this sword made for you. Work on this level is not just a pride and joy for yourself (as I am sure it is) but also expands our appreciation of what is possible in the the realm of the contemporary art of sword smiths.
Bravo!

I look at this sword and wonder how it is even possible.
I agree with Chads sentiment in the sense it looks flawless yet still natural. Often precision in the creation of objects is so obviously unnatural.
I do not love the bright sword for its sharpness, but that which it protects. (Faramir, The Two Towers)

Amazing! Having seen the original in person I must say this recreation is just amazing. That sword is one of my favorite European swords and the recreation is just spot on.
Unfortunately my picture of the original doesn't make justice for it.
Vince did phenomenal job.

Thank you all for your comments. I took this sword to Sweden when I went with fellow members from Wulfheodenas and it certainly raised some eyebrows.
Vince Evans is the hero here though.
Jussi, thanks for your reply. Is the sword in the Helsinki Museum? If so, I would very much like to contact them.

The sword hil garniture, blade and scabbard are exceptional, made by an artist who does his background research into what ever his talents produce. A masterpiece for sure
In the 'flesh' it is a joy and wonder to look at and hold, and it was great to meet both Vince, his wife Grace and fellow Wulfheodenas Peter during our shared visit to Sweden. The best of times.
best
Dave
ps for Peter Johnson, thank you for your own background work and considerable help and companionship during our visit. Top man
and he who stands and sheds blood with us, shall be as a brother.
