Hi All,
For sale is a Tinker type xii or xa dependant on your thoguht's,
i'l cut and paste Tinkers original add,far better description and pic's than mine,
i purchased this to have a custom hilt built up on top of an excellent blade, but alas thing's havent worked out,
so rather than let it sit,it should go to someone who will get good use from it,
unused,never cut with,displayed only,include's Tinker's leather travel scabbard,unused again,
fantastic geometry to the blade, pics dont show the real quality of the piece,
price $700.00 plus shipping, paypal,BT,cheque, item sent on clearance all welcome,
please pm with Q's or interest,
best,
lee.

TYPE XII SWORD
Early Medieval Sword

Oakeshott Type: XII
OAL: 37-1/2 inches
Blade Length: 31-3/8 inches
Blade Width @ Base: 1-7/8 inches
Blade Width 3 inches from point: 1-1/4 inches
Blade thickness at base: .236 inches
Blade thickness 1 inch from tip: .060
Distal taper is initially concave then becomes a straight taper
Hilt OAL: 6-1/4 inches
COG: 4-1/4 inches from Base of blade
COP: approx 22-3/4 inches from base of blade
Weight: 2lb12oz.
Blade is 5160 spring steel Tempered to HRc52-54 with the tang and base of blade drawn to HRc45-48. Cross is of mild steel and curves forward in the plane of the blade and is lightly cusped at the center. Cross is 8-1/8 inches wide. 'Brazil Nut' style pommel is of mild steel, is 1-3/8 inches tall by 2-3/4 inches wide by 1-1/8 inches thick. Pommel is secured by a counter-sunk 3/8 inch diameter 1/4-20 tubular nut that recesses approx 1/2 inch into pommel. The base of the pommel is heyed to fit over the rectangular section of the tang to prevent rotation. The handle is of sandwiched hardwood construction wrapped in laquered linen cord. Sword is provided with a simple black leather scabbard reinforced at the throat and chape.

This sword is in a style comparable to swords of the 11th-13th C. and is primarily a cutting sword, though the acute point will facilitate thrusts against unarmored opponents. The sword is arguably a type Xa, but I feel that the acute point places it as a type XII despite the length of the fuller.
