Hi there, after fencing olympic sport for a time I'm just now starting historic fencing classes as well. Unfortunately, the rapiers and daggers my school sells is of dismal quality at twice the cost, so I've ordered my rapier and main gauche online. Problem is, I can't seem to find a place that sells bird blunts for my weapon tips, either in the local hunting stores or online. Can someone direct me to a site that sells them, or perhaps recommend a substitute? Thanks!

Try Zen Warrior Amory at http://www.zenwarriorarmory.com/

Click on "blades" then scroll 2/3 of the way down to "Don't forget Tips", where you'll see "SBB Blunts for Schlager blades. Rubber. $1.50 each"

Even though it says "schlager" they also fit other blades, including delTin practice rapiers and Hanwei practical rapiers.

Oh, and a washer or a similar metal object under the tip is recommended (required by some groups) to keep the tip from wearing through the rubber. Some people swear by a spent .38 casing.

Hi Jeff,

You can also take a look at Darkwood Armoury here : http://www.darkwoodarmory.com/otheritems.shtml.

They sell nice rapiers, sabers, basket-hilts and a variety of daggers, plus some indispensable accessories like rapier tips, gloves, protective wax...

Oh ! non, c'est bien plus beau lorsque c'est inutile ! »
