Hello All Happy November
Time for the Highlight Item and the #014 Viking Spear is on tap for this go around. This piece is a style of spear seen through out the Nordic cultures and we have a pile of them ready to ship.
This type of spear was a prominent side arm of the Viking Age and seen in many works of art from the period as well as many, many examples in collections around the world.
We hope you can add a bit of Viking weaponry to your collection this fall so don't delay and order today!
Best from A&A

Just to nit-pick a bit, but wouldn't such a spear be the primary arm (not side arm) during this time period?
By the way, I just ordered one. =]

Totally off topic, but I just realized its November while reading this thread.
Time seems to fly anymore.
Holidays will be here before long.

What would be the period of usage and geographical breakdown of this particular style of spear?
Would it, for example, be out-of-place for the First Crusade era?

Cheers,
A great generic spear, suitable for many personas!
Does this item come with the spearhead already mounted on the shaft, or shipped unattached for customers to mount on the included spear shaft?
I am hoping for the former but not sure if shipping sizes allowed for such.
Thanks,
Terry

And out of curiosity, is it possible to get a shaft longer than the 6'?

Mine as well as the 12th century spear I ordered at the same time came fully mounted and I'm pretty sure that this is standard.
Nice spears by the way: Solid thick blades and not thin sheets of cut stock plate.
Would take advantage of the sale if I didn't already have one.

Hi Terry and Mike
They come mounted when shipped in the continental US and sometimes Canada. We can ship just the head for anyone that would prefer. This is often cheaper for customers overseas.
Length of shaft is regulated by the shipping more than the stock. I can get longer shafts as a special order though the cost does go up as well as the shipping.

Thanks Craig,
Having them already mounted makes your price even more attractive! Saves quite a bit of work, especially for those of us that are not well versed in flush mounting (I am assuming its a flush mount as shown in the picture), or mounting a spearhead, period.
Best regards,
Terry

Hi Terry
The picture above is low res and does not show the transition well. It is a socketed spear but the metal of the socket does sit a top the shaft and not a flush joint from socket to shaft. If you wanted the socket in set I could do that but would need to charge an additional fee.
Best

I got my spear today and it's absolutely amazing. It's relatively light and balances well. I can't believe how different it feels from the CS Boar spear I have.
Thanks for the great deal, looking forward to getting my Hungarian axe.
