I'm planning on buying a Ceramic sharpening stone (made of aluminiumoxide) , hardness 9.2 (Mohs-scale) for my NG Crecy.

Though I don't really know which grain I should get...

They offer 3 grain types:

Medium: grain 600 in the US or grain 1000 in Japan. (20 micron)
Fine: grain 1200 in the US or grain 2500 in Japan. (6 micron)
UltraFine: grain 2000 in the US or grain 4000 in Japan. (3micron)

Any thoughs?

Thanks,
Wouter

Hi Wouter,

For most touch ups and general sharpening, the 600 grit size will be most useful. If I had nothing and was buying these tools, I would get all three for various needs. If I was only buying one for swords, it would be the 600.

Cheers

GC
