I'm a part of a historical sword group called Bankside Schoole of Defence here in the Riverside, CA area. We have been studding rapier and companion, long sword, back-sword and buckler, quarterstaff, and are now learning small-sword.

As with everything we are finding it difficult to find good source of information on proper "style" of fence and what to do with that darned left hand. We are assuming it was to be placed o n the hip or behind the back like modern fencing. But since this is new territory for our school, we don't know where to look for help or information.

Since I am a member here, I thought it was the best place to start.
