Does anyone have pictures of original one handed viking swords or even artwork depicting these swords? I really like the Albion Berserkr but I would love to see original examples.

Thanks
-James

The pen may be mighter, but the sword is much more fun.

James,
There is some information (but no pictures) on single-edged Viking blades in Kirk Spencer's review of his single-edged Cervenka Viking sword: http://www.myArmoury.com/review_cerv_vikse.html

Kirk Lee Spencer posted a pic with a single handed viking a while back. http://www.myArmoury.com/talk/viewtopic.php?t...ht=falcata
It is the last or next to last sword pictured in the third picture in the first post.

Isn't "single handed viking sword" redundant?
Or is there a cache of "two handed viking swords" I'm unaware of?
"Swords of the Viking Age" is definitely the best look at originals that is out there now.

Here are some Norwegian Viking hilts:

Oh, the Berserkr by Albion is a one handed sword but it is also a one edged sword so maybe that is were there might be some possible confusion about the original topic question: I'm assuming J. Bedel is asking about photos of single edged
Viking swords mostly, although the way the question is asked it could also mean all Viking swords.

Any historical two handed Viking swords are undocumented as far as I know reading posts on this site over the years.
Well, except for " movie " swords like " The 13 Warrior " sword and some nice customs sword that are two handed Viking swords. Wink

Ahh, I get it.
It's much easier to find examples of hilts than to find whole blade shots; but most of the hilt styles were done on single-edged as well as double-edged blades, at least in Norway.
Looks like De Norske Vikingsverd is no longer on line, that would be a good reference - but "SotVA" is still your best bet.

I think you've got it wrong again. You mean "single-edged", not "single bladed". There are no Viking swords with two blades of which I am aware Happy Razz Wink
