Hi all, another project almost finished.
I needed a rondel so I thought I would have a go at making one. Never made a knife before but though it couldn't be too hard, could it
The blade is 13inches long, made from spring steel that I had laying around.
The sheath is 4mm veg tanned that I soaked for 24 hours, sewed up the back, pressed the design into, dyed and then baked in my oven for 15-20 minuted at 110degreesC. I have then rubbed a few coats of a beeswax/olive oil paste that I make and use for my armour, swords leather etc.
I still need to make a chape for the sheath and I am thinking of replacing the wooden grip. I made a very nice handcarved spiral version and broke it getting it on.
Cheers
Rod

Nice, especially for a first knife. Got a full-length shot of it unsheathed?
