Hi,
Being new here, I've read a few articles, but I have a question I hope you guys can offer an answer to.
Basically, I'd like to know more about what blades a heathen Englishman would wield. Seing as England was christianised in the 8/9th century, most Oakshott type Xs are too old, even if they are indeed the more British styles (Petersen types L and S). Now, I've seen a few "Migration Era" swords about, but haven't seen anything about them other than brief descriptions and pics.
Any help or directions to books would be appreciated.
Cheers
Sim

This book could be a start:

I don't have it, but I browsed through it once. I remember that it had a lot of examples in it. I'd like to get a copy of that book myself someday, but I have too many other priorities at the moment (like not spending much money for a while )

Davidson's book also exists in a paperback format, likely more affordable.
One preeminent example of a heathen Anglo Saxon sword is very well known - the Sutton Hoo blade.
