Some time ago I read with great enthusiasm the thread where you discussed the process of stripping the zinc coating off of your hauberk with muriatic acid. I have done the same with mine. I do have one question though: How did you clead the sand & oil off of the maille when you were done cleaning it?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

David;
Now that you mention it it has been a while since I remember seeing a post by Patrick. I also hope he is all right and just that every day life has taken priority over posting.
Hopefully he maybe just needed a break from posting and there is nothing to worry about. ( Although I am NOW worrying a bit. )
Could also be something personnal that is none of our business ??? Whatever the case may be I wish him well.

Posting a reply so that not too many questions are asked and to ally everyone's worries: Patrick is doing well and does still occasionally view the forums. Unfortunately, due to some personal circumstances, he can no longer post here. Suffice it to say that he is still involved with the sword & armour histories community and is doing some exciting things.
Dave,
I'm not sure he's really figured out a good way to do that yet. In fact we just discussed it a few weeks ago and he had some ideas he was going to try. I know that there hasn't been time, with his current busy schedule, to do much. If he comes up with something, we'll try to get it to you some way. Thanks!
Greg

It's not historically accurate-but has anyone tried using a compressor to blow the sand and such off? I haven't given it a try myself but, in theory, it might work.

Thank you all.
I'm sorry to hear that Patrick has been unable to post.
I may have to try the compressor idea, ironic as I have a large one sitting right next to the maille shirt.
Thanks again, and feel free to post any other ideas you come upon.
Dave
