Can anyone identify this sword? It is 36 inchs long, has a wooden handle fastened with bronze grommets, bands of bronze, with small cresents stamped into the metal. Looks middle eastern. Im pretty sure it was a professinal headchopper. Anyhow it racked up 13 notchs before it or its master were retired.

It sounds SEA. Were the "notches" along the spine?
As Allen indicates, if you're serious about identifying your thing, you need to post some pix.
"I gave 'em a sword. And they stuck it in, and they twisted it with relish.
And I guess if I had been in their position, I'd have done the same thing."
