Hello everyone, I am thinking of purchasing a Del Tin 2131. I like the price range and own a sword made by Del Tin when MRL was still using them. Has anyone purchased or handled the 2131, and does it seem like a good low-midrange buy.

Thanks

The 2131 is sluggish and handles poorly. I like the swords of Del Tin, but that one is just too blade-heavy. Of course, that's not an issue if you just intend to hang it on the wall or use it as a costume piece, but if you are set on a DT, check 2121 or 2130 instead - they handle far better.

Thanks, of the two you recommend, which is better?

It's a matter of taste, but from a handling point of view, I think the 2121 is somewhat better.

Hi Sebastian

I used to own one of those, actually, since I still have one I customized, one of the ones from the MRL days, I've owned two of them.

Is it blade heavy? Yes.... I agree with Bjorn on that.

But, is it unreasonable considering the blade type and blade length?

No. For the type of sword, an Oakeshott XII, with a blade length a bit over 35 inches, and a total weight just over 3lbs, its not that bad. Actually, quite a few antiques have cogs further down the blade than this sword does.

However, if you intend to buy as good a "sword" as possible, then the DT2121 was always considered by those of us that got the opportunity to handle a bunch of them, one of the best. For the price, very hard to beat the DT2121.

swords are fun
