Ride Away with a New Sword Contest
The contest is over and we have a winner of the Albion Armorers Riding Sword!!
Our winner is:
Christian Henry Tobler
We chose six names. Christian came up the winner. The "near misses" of the drawing were Karl Knisley, Taylor David Bolinger, Gabriel Lebec, Søren Niedziella, and Douglas Peters. There will be more contests in the future for these guys, and others, to try their luck on winning new prizes.

What Christian has won:

This straight, double-edged sword is based on Albion's popular forged Riding Sword. It's intended as a back-up sidearm for civilian wear when traveling and hunting. The blade is hand-ground 1075 steel with a handmade mild steel guard and pommel. The grip has a stabilized wooden core and is wrapped with cord under leather. Blued fittings and oxblood leather complete the package. The blade is etched with the myArmoury.com logo on one side. This piece is one of only 25 of these Limited Edition swords created and has a value of around $400 US.
Overall length: 32.25"; Blade length: 25.875"; Blade width (at base): 1.5"; CoG: 4.125"; CoP: 17"; Weight: 2 lbs

I know for a fact that a lot more than us 6 answered the questions correctly. It seems that 6 initial "candidates" were chosen randomly, and then a winner chosen randomly from those 6... Don't know what on earth the point of that would be, but it certainly adds to the suspense and interest .

Yep. I drew six names. I wanted five "near misses". Christian was the winning draw and got the prize. It adds that, "D'oh! So close!" factor. Grin. So mean, eh? Nah..it's all in fun!
Pretty much everybody answered all the questions right. All answers came from our features here on the site. This is what we were looking for, with variations also accepted:
Q: Which weapon, used by early hoplites and Roman legionaries, is believed to have developed from the falcata?
A: The Kopis
Q: Fulvio Del Tin has two brothers. What are their names?
A: Flavio Del Tin, Maurizio Del Tin
Q: Name a distinctive style of helmet popularized in Europe by Polish Hussars.
A: Zischägge (winged helmet, szyszak, etc.)
The contest wasn't really about the quiz. It was about getting people interested, involved, excited, and comfortable with participation. On those notes, it worked out quite well. We'll have many more.
