this is not meant as spam, just trying to get folks to an event Happy

Here is more info on the event: http://www.larp.com/midgard/faire.html

Greetings to all history enthusiasts!

The Medieval Faire would like to invite you and your group to our living history encampments and battle reenactments. The dates are October 8th and 9th, 2005, and the event will be held at Marietta Mansion in Glenn Dale, Maryland, USA. Public hours are from 11 AM to 5 PM. The address is 5626 Bell Station Road, Glenn Dale, MD, 20769, and more information about the Faire and Marietta mansion can be found on these webpages:

http://www.pgparks.com/places/eleganthistoric...vents.html

http://www.pghistory.org/MariettaMansion.html

This event will be a timeline event with the re-enactment of the Battle of Hastings of 1066 as the main focus. There will (tentatively) be a Hastings re-enactment battle on both Saturday and Sunday. However, groups that re-enact other timeframes and events are encouraged to come and set up demonstration areas as well. We are allowing steel re-enactment swords for the battle, but attendees should contact us regarding armor and clothing requirements. All participants are welcome to camp over night. Please contact us with any inquiries about bringing horses on the site.

Medieval Faire is open to the public from 11 AM to 5 PM both days. There will be a battle reenactment and smaller demonstrations of various sorts throughout the day. The individual historical camps will have their own living history displays as well.

Aw, man, you just posted this after I'd made plans that I can't cancel for that Saturday! I get out of work at 3:30 on Sunday, too, so I doubt I'd be able to make it out in time.

Wish I could go, but I have a 40th anniversary party to throw for my in-laws on Saturday, and by the time church service is done on Sunday (12:30) and I get down to the Faire (I live in Hanover, PA about two hours away), it'll be time to turn right around and head back to church for Christmas cantata practice at 6:00. Godspeed to all of the reenactors.

(second picture, click on its big version and you can sorta see my new scabbard and wrap belt)

well sat was a wash out. prob about 15 people showed up. stayed till
about 11ish then left.

sunday was rather nice. we had about 10 fighters, 5 camps, 4 venders,
and actually a good many public. we REALLY didnt have a full battle.
we had a scenerio demo, weapons discussion, shield formations, group
and single combats. it was fun and lasted a while longer than the
single battles usually do. i unarmoured and was like wait we got like
45 minutes till we do it again ahhhhhhhh hehehehe.

Glad to hang out with everyone again this year. Hopefully by next year
we will have a new palce to have hastings or stamford or what have
you. whos up for a spring event?

Hey Chuck -

I was almost able to come out - just did not quite make it. Too much to do here and too far to go (I know you go further, so that not a great excuse). Spring sounds good to me - maybe you can finally get everyone out to West VA?
