Hey everyone,
For the last two years, Ben Sweet and I have gotten together in Morro Bay while I'm in the States for the summer, and this year we thought we'd like to issue an open invitation to those in the area.
Where: The Harbor Hut - on the waterfront in Morro Bay
Time: 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 24
This will be sort of an unorganized, laid-back, laissez faire sword-lover's get together. Grab a bite at the Harbor Hut or one of the other nearby eateries, and then we'll pull things out of our cars for show and tell. Ben is going to bring several swords, and I'll bring a box of antique swords.
No cutting or bouting is planned, but if this gets enough people out, maybe in the future we can talk to the Morro Bay PD and see what sort of activities we could do and stay within the local laws.
So if you can, come on out, bring some steel, and we'll have a good get together!

Wish I could make it, but the closest I can get is northern New Mexico (a couple of weeks from now). I wish someone would schedule some neat events like this in Florida. I hope y'all have a great time.

Wish I could make it myself, though I am stuck by distance and other obligations. Cool get-togethers do happen from time to time, sometimes planned long in advance, some less so. The Atlanta show was cool - got to see a bunch of people I have wanted to meet, but won't likely see again until the next big event like that. Round Tables work, too... can't wait until mine in July. Faires and festivals do happen, as do some informal meetings (like this apparently has been in the past, or Chad's current "anyone free this weekend" get-together). If you have some free time, Steve, toss up an event like that yourself! I'd go 3 or 4 hours for a gathering like that, myself, if I was available to do so, and I'd be glad to bring pieces people wanted to see.

Free time. The man is hilarious!
Seriously, I have never even BEEN to an event like this, and would at least want to attend one by someone else, first, to get a handle on reasonable scope and expectations.

Free time for me is becoming a premium, and I have 2 weeks off every month!
If we weren't so far apart, we'd be grilling and carrying on, with a lot of toys to play with. I'm with you, though... wish we could make it happen.

I have an open seat since my wife is staying home so if anyone thinks comming down from the S.F or S.J area is too long of a drive to M.B then I can meet you in Salinas and you can ride with me in the Smurf Machine there and back cutting your drive time. You just have to be in my area by around 0815 hrs

Sorry I missed this! That's what I get for not checking the forum everyday. I would have driven up from San Diego. My wife and I stay in Cambria all the time and this would have been perfect. She could have gone shopping and I could have....well , you know. Next time.
