Very nice, Julien! I really like it with the color.
By modern sensibilities it may be easy to go too far and end up with something over-the-top and tacky, but there are plenty of historical examples that did that.

Thanks, Alan! That is a very good point. I first hated my own choice of colors, especially that baby blue background. what I find unappealing with many painted scabbards out there is the use of bare, flat colors. I copied manuscripts techniques, finding that they did use color highlights (though sparingly) and enhanced definition with black outlines around characters and patterns. I find that it makes a huge difference in terms of visual appeal.
