A couple of years ago I bought a bare messer blade from Landsknecht Emporium. Finished at last. The fittings are wrought iron, heavily etched and browned. The guard slips over the blade and wedges at the bottom where it flares. A very fussy maneuver let me tell you. The tang came broad and full but extended with a 2" long peenable end. So the pommel piece was formed with a groove to slip over the full tang but allowing for the narrow end to stick through for peening. Another very fussy bit. Slabs are walnut, with browned steel pins. Scabbard is leather over veneer sheets. Let's see if I can manage to get some start-to-finish pics here.
