There a small group of 9 swords in the Royal Armouries with a single example of the style in the National Army Museum that all look like this

https://collections.royalarmouries....ject-23443.html

The NAM example is this one

https://collection.nam.ac.uk/detail...cc=1964-08-34-5

I can recall seeing other examples of this style for sale but can not for the life of me remember where.

Has anyone seen this style in auctions or other museums ?

Um... not to be pedantic or anything but the links don't seem to be done up right.

I think these are what you're after?:

https://collection.nam.ac.uk/detail.php?acc=1964-08-34-5

(Can't really add anything else, this isn't something I'm at all familiar with.)

Doh !!

Thanks for that, I must have done something wrong in copying the link.

It's an interesting cluster of 9, nearly identical swords in the RA and their partner in the NAM. One is marked clearly on the blade with the words "For the Tower" .

https://collections.royalarmouries.org/object/rac-object-47.html

They're believed to be a style of sword ordered in their thousands for the New Modelled Army of 1645 and that this one was a pattern kept in the Tower of London as an example to work from when contracting to supply swords.

They're all pretty light, averaging around 698gms and about 946mm long. Mostly because they really are cheaply made with thin guards.
