Hey folks,

I feel like I’ve seen the guy on the far right somewhere on this forum, but if anyone can provide more info (dating, location, dimensions, other photos), that would be great. I know Craig Johnson has it on a Pinterest board, but my computer is acting up right now and I’m having trouble getting things to load.

Not sure if the pommel twist is original to this piece or not, but it would make it fit for a lefty...

Mark Lewis very kindly sent me a nice full length shot and some measurements. The whole sword is only 1040g—makes me think that the blade is very thin! I blew up the hilt to a mm or two over full size, and the cross is basically a foot long. The whole piece is outrageous and I have decided that I want it. Rather badly.

Unfortunately, I don’t have funds for a reproduction, but I may use some Peter Johnsson geometry and hilt up a cut-down Albion Gaddhjalt blade I have in an ‘inspired by’ fashion.

Here are a few more photos. It's a cool sword. I thought about having a repro made a few years ago but since I can't make out the inlay, I scuttled the idea.

Oh wow Tim, those are nice photos—thank you for sharing! I’m really loving all the little details of this sword, like the fuller widening for the inlay, the twist to the pommel and the guard pinched into the fuller. Does anyone have some idea of dating for this sword beyond the 11th-12th centuries, or find provenance? It looks a bit like a Geibig 8 to me, though the hilt furniture argues for maybe a type 10, 6 or wide 5? What do people think?
