Saw some over the years in reenactments, but never got the chance to ask the owners if they did their research.

IMO, it's just horrible WTF?! , but I'm still curious about it. No intention to buy one, and if I can, I will take that idea from anyone who may buy it if I can Laughing Out Loud

I've seen these alot from ebay or amazon, they were dubbed as Gothic Cuirass by the sellers from India. The price varied so greatly that some sellers would try for over a hundred USD. As you can see from the link below the actual armor is very different.

Well, it is very superficially similar to some 16th Century cuirasses, e.g. the third one down in this article: http://myArmoury.com/feature_16c_armour.html

Agreed it seems to draw inspiration from early 16th century armour - the so-called maximillian style. But the shape seems wrong - it should be more rounded (globose, I think they call it)
