Mild steel blade with a welded on spring steel edge. The haft is from an old Fiskars snow shovel, so its probably hickory or ash.
I wasnted to try making it look old, so I used the vinegar/salt method suggested in a myArmoury article to "antique" the blade. It reacted much stronger on the spring steel than the mild steel, as you can see in the pics.

Total length: 168 cm or 66 inches.
Blade length: 56 cm or 22 inches.
Blade thickness: 4.8 mm, or 3/16 inches.
Weight: 1930 grams or 4.25 lbs.

Very nice! One of my favorite pole-type weapons! Yes, the salt/vinegar treatment reacts differently on different types of steel. I learned that the hard way. Worried I almost ruined a 'not inexpensive' Damascus dagger blade once. Laughing Out Loud --------McM
