i got myself a cutlass machete and... someone made an offhand comment about it being a dussack machete, which has of course given me ideas to strip off the plastic handle and replace it with a wooden one, especially to remake it like a german langesmesser but that will only work if the tang is sufficiently wide enough, i know from one errant SBG post that the knucke guard does have steel in it so theres hope there..

so, has anyone stripped back the plastic on a cold steel machete of any kind to show how they are constructed and if they decently facilitate putting a wooden handle on them?

A friend of mine replaced the plastic of his coldsteel gladius with wood and it turned out good. I didn't have a chance to see the tang underneath before he replaced the grips, however.
