Hi, first time poster here.

I plan on getting myself an early frogmouth helmet but I couldn't find any indication of how crests were mounted and attached to helmets.

What are the options out there ? I hoped some of you could help me with your insights.

Keep in mind this helmet would be used in HMB, so anything directly integrated to the helmet is a no-no. I just want to be able to add a crest when I feel like decorating my helmet.

Here's attached the helmet that I am planning on getting, not the best but accurate enough for HMB and not too expensive, not a high quality reproduction but again, the intended goal isn't medieval reenactment.

I'm not aware of any crest mounts available on the open market, with the exception of mounts for Roman/Greek plume crests.
Without having to compromise the integrity of the helm by drilling holes, I would try something with either elastic bands or Velcro---or a combination of the two. It wouldn't be 'historically accurate', but it would be an easy and affordable on-off method.
In other words---a D-I-Y project. Wink Good luck...............McM

Holes on the top of the skull and laces.

Or staples, as you can see here.
