Hi folks! I have been offered this axe as payment for an old debt. And since I have no idea if it is a replica or if it is authentic, i hoped maybe someone here could help me out a bit. What kind of weapon, era, country and so on. And of course, is it real?
It comes from a very wealthy family so it just might be worth almost the amount of debt he owes. Thanks in advance!

Hi Fredrik,

From what I can see, it's probably an African axe. As for dating, it's 19th or possibly even 20th century. Faganarms sells axes like these for around $385 USD.

Here's a photo showing several axes, a couple of which has a head similar to yours: https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-african-weapons-axe-axes-knives-scythes-knife-africa-tool-tools-agriculture-18107502.html
