wow its looks really good ! , may i ask a question? how is the basswood for scabbards? trying to figure which wood to use since i cant obtain poplar here where i live.

It is soft. Very easy to carve with a sharp chisel. You don't even need a mallet...just a sharp chisel and a light push. The only thing about is it is hard to see the grain changing direction, so sometime you will be chiseling along, and the chisel bites hard and cuts a big chunk. You just have to be sensitive to the chisel beginning to resist, then change direction. Other than that, it is really nice wood to use for scabbard cores.

Eric, I have been following the progress on this sword on your Facebook and have been thrilled watching it! The shape of this sword is superb and speaks to me. I love the process that you used to dye the grip as well as the explanation behind it.
Congratulations on the crafting of a truly impressive sword and scabbard!

I really like this sword - its a classic European medieval sword, and very well done.
One thing that would be nice would be a full-length, undistorted view.

Yes, I realize I need an overall view. My camera malfunctioned before I could finish the photo shoot. The new owner said he would take some pictures for me. When I get them, I’ll put them up right away.
