Took the plunge and ordered one of these to go with my Wars of the Roses infantryman's kit: https://www.wulflund.com/weapons/swords/other-swords/ellerton-medieval-falchion.html/
I do not believe it comes with any sort of scabbard, and it CERTAINLY does not come with a sword belt. I do leatherworking (In fact, I have a belt I made to go with my Windlass Oakeshott type XIV, along with a scabbard for my rondel dagger). Can someone direct me to some good photos of what a period-correct belt, scabbard, and suspension system for this kind of sword would have been (period artwork, originals, authentic replicas, etc.)?
Also, were all sword scabbards at that time wood-cored? Or were there any plain, leather scabbards in existence for swords? I know a lot of dagger/knife sheaths were plain leather, but I am talking long blades now. Also, what hardware would be period-correct? Don't want to make a 15th century belt with 13th or 14th century fittings, for example.
For that matter, would a rondel dagger be out of place for my outfit or would I be better off with a ballock dagger? Or were they contemporaries?
